Texans Come Together Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On June 8th, a 150 year old Texas treasure was burned. The Governor's Mansion was set on fire in what looked like an arson related event. Governor Rick Perry expressed his deep, heartfelt and genuine sense of loss as he beheld the charred remains of his once majestic home.

In response to this tragedy, he said, "This beautiful structure has stood for more than 150 years as a symbol of our state's commitment to representative government. A home where great Texans like Sam Houston, Lawrence Sullivan Ross, and Bill Clements once lived. And as the current governor of this great state, I am committed to making sure that this tragedy will be but a small mark on the timeline of our state's remarkable history. We will restore. We will renew. And we will rebuild this magnificent structure so that future generations may gaze upon its beauty and appreciate its history."

Texans have always rallied to a challenge. For more than 150 years, the mansion has stood as a symbol of power, prestige and honor for the great state of Texas and it will continue to do so. Many have already come together to help with the rebuilding and restoration of this national treasure, and Mountain Movers International of Corinth, Texas wants to do its part to help as well.

Whenever something like this happens, many make the assumption that it is the government's responsibility to fix it. But Mountain Movers does not believe that's the way it should be.  Historically, charity comes from individuals not from government institutions. Whenever there is a problem or crisis it is always solved by individuals because they are the ones who feel the loss. They have a personal reason to be involved - thus they are moved to act and to respond.

Texans are known for helping one another and for taking the initiative in times of crisis. As Texans we are moved to act in response to the destruction of our state's beloved Governor's Mansion. Mountain Movers International has a plan to inspire Texans to have an active part in restoring it.

John F. Kennedy once said, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." Here is a chance for Texans to take action on that great quote. We as Texans can do something for Texas!

It is high time that Texans - not the government - do something for Texas. Let's put the government allocated funds to use in a better way. It is believed that gasoline may have been used to start the fire. Gasoline now costs about four dollars a gallon. If every Texan would donate roughly the value of one gallon of gasoline, we could raise over a hundred million dollars toward the restoration of the Texas Governor's Mansion. We can turn around and make right what someone meant for evil.

Mountain Movers International has put together a fund called http://www.texanscometogether.org/. We are a nonprofit centered around serving as a bridge between resources and needs. We exist to encourage serving and giving. Your donation for the restoration of our Texas Governor's Mansion will be tax deductible and will serve as a powerful symbol to our United States that Texans take care of Texans. So, Mountain Movers International invites you to come and be a part of restoring our great state's Governor's Mansion today!

Sincerely, Wayne Hamit, President
